Importance of Regular Safety Drills

I’ve noticed that many staff members are unsure about our emergency procedures, especially during high season when we can get overwhelmed. It’s critical to conduct regular safety drills — not just for our own peace of mind, but to ensure our guests feel secure too. When was the last time your team ran a full evacuation drill; let’s share best practices.

, I totally get what you mean — we did a full evacuation drill last summer after realizing half the staff didn’t know the exits. I recommend scheduling them monthly when things are quieter; it really helps. Have you tried mixing up the scenarios to keep it fresh?

This drives me nuts too! We tried to conduct a surprise drill last winter, but we only had half the staff show up. I think making it part of our regular staff meeting could help; that way, everyone gets the practice without feeling overwhelmed. Can’t believe we’re still having this conversation! @m_thom498.

Absolutely agree on the importance! We found that using real scenarios during drills keeps everyone engaged. @m_thom498, have you tried doing role-specific drills? It really helps.
